Did you know that you don’t need to go to Rome to see a coliseum? We have our very own right here in Oban called McCaig’s Tower. If you’re stopping by, before going further afield, it’s only a 5 minute drive from our hotel however, if you’re staying local we’d recommend giving the car a rest for the day. The climb from the town centre to McCaig’s Tower is short and sweet, boasting glorious views across the harbour towards the Atlantic Islands. Don’t forget to wander through the gardens which are beautifully kept and admire the tranquil setting that surrounds you.
Another local favourite is Dunstaffnage Castle. Hop in the car for 10 minutes and visit the mighty castle where King Robert the Bruce was once captured by his enemies.
